The Rinehart 100 is a traveling 3D event, with 100 outrageous, silly, and downright scary targets! On July 26th, 2008 CBH Member, Cindy Lavender woke up at 2:00am to meet some friends to drive down to Murrayville, Illinois to shoot a 2-day event in 1 day. After a 3-½ hour drive, they arrived promptly at 7am; shooters left their bow cases in their vehicles and geared up right away. The line was already forming, but good thing for the internet and pre-registration, all she had to do was pick up both her score cards. There were 2 ranges, 50 targets each, consisting of a North American Range, with your typical 3D animals, with the exception of a bear on a toilet at a 2 target station. While we scratched our heads looking for the 2nd target, we glassed around and finally figured out the toilet had a 12 ring!
The African Range didn’t really do the name justice, since the there were a lot more than African animals. On this range, there were bats, monsters, a 15’ Alien, and even a couple of pink flamingos which could have been taken from the neighbor’s lawn. Along with the unusual, the African animals were a tall giraffe, lions, tigers, and other horned unidentifiable creatures.

To shoot the first 50 targets took an average of 5 hours with no waiting for anyone at the next target. The second ranged offered 90 degree heat, the wooded areas were extremely humid and and the open fields offered no shade from the blaring sun. The alien was the grand finale, and it was a perfect 12 ring shot with an added wind adjustment to the left. Mission accomplished! At the 98th target, she was ready to fling the arrows at the two leopards facing each other, the bow was really getting hard to pull. 10 hours later, what a sigh of relief when they saw a tractor coming for dehydrated, nearly exhausted archers for a ride back to the main building.
“What made it worth the 4 hour ride back with a Suburban full of sweaty men, was when I found out I took first place in both ranges, beating out about 40 other scores shooting the WOMEN HUNTERS class.” -Cindy Lavender
