A new interest in archery...

The CBH JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) Program is committed to providing a positive archery experience for young archers between the ages of eight to eighteen. JOAD clubs round the country are developmental clubs with a competition emphasis. This is our focus as a JOAD club.

In the past few years, interest in archery has increased significantly thanks in part to Hollywood. Because of the spike in interest, we are seeing an increase in JOAD membership. This is fantastic! However, in order to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to participate and grow within sport, the following rules have been implemented:

1.  All new shooters must go through our initial evaluation program, which is done by appointment only. Prospective shooters may observe practices.

2.  Each potential new member will have 2 free sessions to try out our program before being required to join CBH and USA Archery

  1.  CBH student membership is $75 per year

  2.  USA Archery student membership is $40 per year

3.  Class 1 (developmental line) meets every Thursday from 6:30-7:30PM. Class 2 (advanced line) meets from 7:30-8:30PM. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for your session in order to put equipment together and warm-up so we can start the session on time.

4.  Each new student is allowed 2 unexcused absences per year, after which you will be dropped from the class.

5.  JOAD class 1 membership is limited to 20 participants.

6.  If there are more than 20 potential students interested in joining, they will be placed on a waiting list and be considered for participation in the order in which they started the participation process.

7.  For Class 1 participants, club equipment is available for use for 2 months. After that time, each student is expected to procure their own equipment. This equipment should include the following:

  1. Bow of proper size, draw length and draw weight

  2. Arrows that properly match the bow’s draw weight and archer’s draw length

  3. Quiver

  4. Arm guard

  5. Finger tab (recurve) or mechanical release aid (compound)

  6. Chest protector (recurve)

  7. Stretch band for warm-up and home practice

8.  Movement up to the Class 2 advanced line is considered on an individual basis.

9.  The Class 2 competition line MUST:

  1. Have their own equipment
  2. Commit to practice outside of regular, weekly JOAD sessions

  3. Commit to compete
